Comedy or Tragedy?

Blame God logo

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this? Esther 4:14

When you hear these words from the book of Esther, what questions come to mind?  What did all the of tragedy of Esther’s life have to do with other people?  Was her life story a cruel joke or a divine conspiracy… a comedy or a tragedy?  Did God write the whole script or just the good ending?  The story of Esther’s life is one of tragedy, danger, intrigue and courage.  We love great endings but the DRAMA before the ending provides some powerful understandings about the drama we typically blame God for. (Esther gives a unique and bold interpretation of the title “Drama Queen”.)

Esther’s life teaches us that…

God may be silent but he is not static.

The enemy may be oppressive but he is not omnipotent.

You may be a victim but you choose to be an overcomer.

Courage is developed because it’s needed.

She had a choice to blame God or believe God had a plan… she could choose courage or devastation. Don’t miss this week as we unpack the makings of a courageous believer despite the backstory or the difficulty of the present moment. Invite a friend to join you on Sunday (click here).
