Blame God

When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?” Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.Matthew 11:2-5

Do you wonder if the miracles and mission Jesus is describing are in ascending order according to importance? Could Jesus be communicating what His keystone project was… proclaiming the good news to the poor?

Who are the most impoverished, the Haitians, the Ethiopians… your next door neighbor? Every time you see a starving child on a tv infomercial what comes into your mind?  Why doesn’t God take care of all the poverty?

Maybe part of the question is “what does poverty have to do with me?”

We check ourselves regularly: “Are we keeping the mission of Jesus alive?  Is His keystone project mine?”  There are many things we do for God’s kingdom to be advanced but today, we’re putting them in ascending order.
