And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16 NIV)
Someone once said, “If I were looking for God, every event and every moment would sow, in my will, grains of God’s life, that would spring up one day in a tremendous harvest… I would become the love that God is, and my harvest would be God’s glory and my own joy.” The truth is we love others in proportion to our “looking for God”. Whenever we look for God we find love. We love and hate in proportion to the measure we are finding the God of love. If we list the names and qualities of God… mercy, grace, justice, generosity, wisdom… we would find the root of each of these is love. God is Love. When we are looking for God in every moment and every relationship we will find love… and consequently become love… the love that we need… the love that our friends and enemies need. Who needs your love today that doesn’t deserve it? Look for God… you’ll find the love you need.
