Remember this song from The Wizard of Oz?

If I Only Had A Heart : sung by the Tin Man

When a man’s an empty kettle
He should be on his mettle
And yet I’m torn apart
Just because I’m presumin’
That I could be a human
If I only had a heart
I’d be tender, I’d be gentle
And awful sentimental
Regarding love and art
I’d be friends with the sparrows
And the boy that shoots the arrows
If I only had a heart

This song of longing for a heart comes from someone, in fact anyone who has not yet met the unstoppable source of love.  Most songs about the heart, love and relationship are sentimentality or fantasy.  Real love that builds unstoppable relationships is built on the symbol of the cross not a “heart” which can fail and stop beating physically and emotionally.  The cross has a beam that is vertical which describes the relentless relationship between God toward man.  That vertical beam holds the horizontal beam which is a symbol of our relationship with others being connected to our relationship with God.  Until the cross becomes our standard in all matters of love and relationship, we miss God’s eternal gift of relationship with Himself and others.  This cross convicts us to receive God’s love and then give it away again and again. Unstoppable relationships are those that will last on earth and most importantly into eternity.

Join us this week to continue with thousands of believers in the “One Prayer” series and hear what God has to say about “Unstoppable Relationships”.

Never stopping,
Scott & Clare
