What negative self-talk is a reel in your mind? Are there practices that can help you recognize and move through the lies to discover more of your inherent greatness? Can you be trained to help other people stop the lies they believe about themselves?. Absolutely! When our business colleague first started using reels with pop icons like Taylor S., Ted Lasso, and “Ken,” I (Clare) resisted the “reels” for real.” I asked, “Do we need pop icons to get our message of transformation out in the wild? Isn’t who we are and what we do enough to invite others on a life-changing journey?” Almost as quickly as I asked that question, I heard that still, small voice say, “Remember, the icons you love from your faith tradition are a beautiful window of communication that often works better than words. You know a picture is worth a thousand words.” I responded, “Alright then, bring on the icons! Icons can be a window into our soul’s longing. Current pop icons unabashedly name their desire for love, joy, peace, connection, and purpose. They unveil culture’s unhealthy thinking, feeling, and action. Just as Iconographers used their icons to tell a story in ages past, we can allow living icons to awaken us to the questions that shouldn’t go away. Questions like: Who am I now? What is God saying to me today? What is my inherent purpose at this moment? This is the work we do with Enneagram Harmony.
