Because of you…

Haiti enote banner

Dear friends,

Two summers ago we (along with our brother Shawn) were driving through City Soleil (kidnap capital of the world) looking at the deepest poverty in the western hemisphere.  We watched a woman with dysentery on the side of the road just feet from someone selling vegetables on the street.  We saw naked children running through open garbage, thousands of people standing outside their little shanties – poor, hungry, dirty, sick… hopeless.  The smell in the 90° air was stifling with the putrid smell of open waste, burning tires and garbage. We will live with the sights and smells of our brothers and sisters in Haiti burned into our hearts and senses.

Everything within us wanted to gather these broken people up and fix their world immediately.  God spoke to me (Clare) and said “Don’t get distracted, they are like sheep without a shepherd… you are here to train the shepherds.”  God confirmed to me (Scott) our mission, we were there to refresh, strengthen and wash the feet of the women and men who can bring change to a country through the Word of God.  Crossroads partners with Carlos Thomas, New World Mission and Jericho Bible College to bring the Hope of Haiti – Jesus Christ. Haiti’s children have hope because of the brave men and women in Haiti and the selfless partners of Crossroads.

Because of you and your partnership, we are breaking the curse of poverty and injustice for the children of Haiti.  If a child has leaders, they can be led in breaking the cycle of poverty and injustice.  If a child has food in their stomach, they can think and nourish a mind that has the power to create change. We have so much respect for you and your continued support of the mission in Haiti.  As the money and supplies are being collected, the images that are burned in our memory are transformed into the image of hope. Thank you for your faithfulness.  We love you.
