Your Kingdom Come

Jesus friends said, “Lord, teach us to pray” and the words above were his response.

Even though we’ve prayed this prayer more times than we can count, it always opens new grace. The words that Jesus taught them are teaching us to pray on this very day.

This morning we prayed for our family and all those in our care, “Your Kingdom Come in us and through us.”  We lifted ones who are waiting, wondering, grieving, celebrating, joyful and painful, knowing that God’s Kingdom rule changes everything. It changes the one who prays along with who and what is the subject that prayer. Prayer changes everything. Up there (as it is in heaven) comes down here (on earth.)

What is it like for you to pray the words, “Your Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven?”  Is there an outcome you’re attached to on earth? What do you have to let go of to receive the Kingdom Who or what needs you to pray this brave prayer today?
