Your brother has come home and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.” The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. But he answered his father, “Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!” “My son,” the father said, “you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” Luke 15:27-32
Sometimes when we have been in the family (the church) for a long time we forget the one that is lost. What brother or sister is missing from the celebration in God’s house? Who do you know that is not in relationship with God or doesn’t have a church home?
When we felt the leading to make HOMEFEST the kickoff for the fall, we were thinking of all those missing from the celebration. An amazing team has designed a “fattened calf” celebration with the message of salvation to bring all God’s children home. We just bought our tickets and our guest tickets and have begun to give them away! We don’t know if the people will come but we have allowed God to use us to invite them! How about you? Do you have your tickets? Who do you know that is missing from the celebration? We’re praying for you and your “brothers” to be with us at the celebration!!
