Staying with 3rd Sunday of Advent reading
Luke ( full reading here)
“He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.” Mary
So many people tell us, “I’ve been waiting forever and I’m sick and tired of waiting.”
We, like Mary, have a shared desire for a just world. The Magnificat, the song of Mary, is the vision of God sung in young woman’s voice. Advent is about waiting and watching for justice.
Mary is singing about expecting, not expectations. Sometimes we need to lower our expectations to “expect” or carry God’s life. What??? Lower my expectations?
What is the difference between expectations and expecting? What might happen if you lowered your expectations? There’s so much more to say but we’ll be patient and wait to tell you.
More on this tomorrow.
Wait for it…
