Today in prayer we gave thanks for the Crossroads Church Elders we have had the privilege to work alongside since 1991. These women and men have been practicing egalitarian leadership with shared power for decades. They have defended victims and empowered survivors for our entire ministry life. Willingly, not under compulsion is the way they have served. My dad always told me, “look for the good people in moments of violence or despair.” So today, we give a SHOUTOUT to a community of Elders/Shepherds who have governed well; feeding the poor, defending the widow, rescuing those who were being led to slaughter, empowering both male and female victims and survivors, confronting perpetrators, and a powerful healing voice for those who have been judged and falsely accused. These Kind Shepherd/Warriors use their rod and staff to protect the flock and when the Chief Shepherd appears they will win the crown that will never fade away.
Thank you, God, for men and women who love You and bear the image of the God who is justice, mercy, and love. AMEN!
