Advent Week 3- JOY

Lectionary Reading from the Blue Book =) Isaiah 61:1-4

…to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
(from Isaiah 61:2-4)

Advent Week 3-The Joy Candle

Advent Week 3

I need some oil, how about you? Christ bringing “the oil of joy instead of mourning” is a promise in this Advent Season. Christ, the Incarnate One is Joy! Jesus Christ, “who for the “joy set before him endured the cross” (Hebrews 12:2) guides us in the practice of joy.  When we remember what Christ has done, What Christ promised for the future, and experience joy in this present moment, we live like Christ. As we “wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2: 13), we need people who embody JOY.

Two of our Enneagram Harmony students are Enneagram Style Seven, the “Joyful” person. Shawna serves those in unstable housing and on the local School Board. Nich teaches high school and coaches with the Enneagram! Both are beautiful voices in the conversation of holding JOY amid difficult times. Listen to how Shawna and Nich are experiencing joy these days.

All guests are Alumni of ©iEnneagram Certification Program or completed a 2-year Transformng Retreat Community with the Enneagram Harmony Model.

Type 7:The Joyful Person. SEVENS embody the joy of the Lord. SEVENS, when they are living led by the “good spirits,” personify the optimistic and spontaneous adventurer. SEVENS are versatile, playful, and practical. Transforming SEVENS focus their talents on worthwhile goals. Integrating SEVENS live in the now andthe future. Sacred Joy incorporates boredom and ritual. Discerning SEVENS discover joy includes living in the mundane and even tragedy. Sacred spontaneity moderates what is good and right in the multiple opportunities that are available. Joyful suffering accepts that while happiness depends on what’s happening, joy is connected to abiding in the Christ life, participating in the fellowship of Christ’s suffering. Transforming/discerning SEVENS show us God’s Joy is authentically good.
