Lectionary Reading from the Blue Book =) Luke 12:35-48
35-36 I’m not just talking theory. There is urgency in all this. If you’re apathetic and complacent, then you’ll miss the moment of opportunity. You should be wide awake and on your toes like servants who are waiting for their master to return from a big wedding reception. 37 How fortunate those servants will be when the master knocks and they open the door immediately! You know what the master will do? He’ll put on an apron, sit them down at the kitchen table, and he’ll serve them a midnight snack. 38 The later he comes home—whether it’s at midnight or even later, just before dawn—
the more fortunate the alert servants will be. LUKE 12:35-36
How are you doing with prayer these days? When you’re “prayerful” are you wide awake? What practices keep you on your toes?
The life of Christ was full of prayer. To say that Christ embodies “Prayerful” is an understatement. His life was a living, eating breathing prayer practice. Jesus weeps with friends, at the table with outcasts, speaking beatitudes for life, engages in the suffering of the world. Embodied presence. one take away practice for all to practice prayerful presence.
Adele Calhoun is a prayerful friend. She says, “it takes to much energy to pretend.” As spiritual director, pastor, author and friend she embodies Christ’s prayerful presence.
ONE MORE THING!
FOURS embody the description of God’s original and introspective creativity. FOURS, when they are living led by the Holy Spirit personify Holy Originality. Integrated FOURS are intuitive, comprehending the depths and heights of life with an equability of happy-go-lucky optimism that doesn’t diminish their emotional depth. Transforming FOURS judge creatively and rightly, i.e., Solomon’s “divide the baby in half” style. Aware FOURS do not follow bohemian or aristocratic ego fixations but impart brilliant beauty without arrogant or destructive extremism. These FOURS celebrate the ordinary as well as the extraordinary, the deep as well as the shallow. Discerning FOURS can take the pain and find the meaning in it without getting lost in the darkness. FOURS in motion celebrate what is unique in others and themselves. Transforming FOURS show us God’s Originality is for everyone.mistakes.
