Lectionary Reading from the Blue Book Acts 6:8-15
Acts 6:8-15 (NLT)
8 Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people. 9 But one day some men……started to debate with him…..
11 So they persuaded some men to lie about Stephen….. 12…So they arrested Stephen and brought him before the high council.13 The lying witnesses said, “This man is always speaking against the holy Temple and against the law of Moses. 15 At this point everyone in the high council stared at Stephen, because his face became as bright as an angel’s.
Reflections:
- Have you ever felt misunderstood, mistreated, falsely accused or misjudged?
- Has anyone ever conspired against you or spoken lies about you out of fear or jealousy?
- How did you respond? Did your face “shine like an angel” like Stephens’s? Talk to God about it.
Consider:
How you can continue the work God has called you to in the face of adversity and persecution.
How can you stand with those being falsely accused or unjustly treated?
Practice:
Consider watching or reading accounts of those that were falsely accused or persecuted for their beliefs and/or faith.
