18 I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God; 2

How is the glory of God (imago Dei) being revealed in you?

This week I’m celebrating a legacy. I’ve decided to frame it that way because I refuse to give space in my mind to the murderer who has yet to be brought to justice as the 16th anniversary of Brian’s unjust death approaches. And quite frankly, the thought of another birthday without him here is depressing, as Brian should be turning 39. The thought alone is hard to comprehend. I’m celebrating a legacy because I watch our son and I see it every day. “Legacy: something transmitted by, or received from, an ancestor or predecessor. Something from the past.

”If you knew Brian you know he felt deeply. He was incredibly sensitive and full of joy. While our son is truly his own person, he embodies the legacy of his father. I am amazed because people and situations have tried to repeatedly rob that legacy from Dante, both before and after he was born. It could have made him cold and steal his joy, but I could not be more incredibly proud of the young man that he is. He carries his dad’s spirit and it shines brightly. Nothing can quiet, dampen, or discourage his spirit, he just keeps rising, each and every time stronger. Ready to be the man God has created him to be. This year, on these days, I am focused on our son because I know his dad would be so very proud of the legacy he is carrying in this world. Keep being you my beautiful son. ♥️

“As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God!So consider carefully how Jesus faced such intense opposition from sinners who opposed their own souls, so that you won’t become worn down and cave in under life’s pressures.”Hebrews 12:1-3
