Staying with 3rd Sunday of Advent reading
Luke ( full reading here) and Mary’s yes to carry Christ
“Let it be unto me, the handmaiden of the Lord.”
“My does magnify the Lord and my spirit does rejoice in God my Savior.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.” Mary
Amid confusing and evil days, Mary is singing about expecting Joy, not expectations of an easy life.
Tuesday, we talked about lowering our expectations. Expectations set us up for disappointment, disillusionment, and maybe even depression. We do not have control over outcomes, but we can expect the person who is joy personified. (←remember this picture?*) Sometimes we need to lower our expectations to “let it be” and say yes to “expect” or carry God’s life. Lower your gaze to the manger… or better yet, lower your gaze within… you, my friend, are “expecting” the person who is JOY!

Practice JOYFUL Presence
Allow pain and uncomfortable emotions
Learn to become more aware of others pain
Realize it is limiting to seek only the positive
Make and fulfill commitments
Simplify, live in the present moment
Momently awareness of consolations and desolations
