Advent Instrumental – by Don Coppo
Thought: Our thought today is by guest blogger- Don Coppo, Worship Arts Pastor
R.S.V.P. The with-God life is a very curious thing. For centuries men and women sought Him, ran from Him, journeyed with Him, traveled outside of the plans made by Him. But here, with this little baby God makes the first move. He sends the invitation to all, asking for their R.S.V.P. Everyone now has the opportunity to live this with-God life. There is no discrimination to live with-God. Angels rejoice over the invitation. Shepherds forget about their livelihood for a little while to respond. Wise men travel hundreds if not thousands of miles to see what this star will lead them to. Even Herod is given the opportunity to live the with-God life. He wasn’t left off the guest list. It would be easy to think by his response to the news of the opportunity for the world to live with-God that he felt slighted by some cosmic rejection. But the truth is even he was invited to live the with-God life. All of us are. To every far-flung corner of the world the invitation still goes out. What would the world look like if we really grasped the fact that we can really live with-God. How would we feel if each morning we seek anew to live the with-God life.
Practice: Receive the gift of God with you. Respond to God’s desire for you to share this invitation with others. Invite someone to church with you this weekend… they just might say yes to the with-God life.
Prayer: God of invitations, you invite me and I say yes. I am amazed that you want to do life with me… thank you. This invitation is for others that I know and I choose to reach out to them. I am not responsible for the response… just the invitation. I pray that this Christmas I would grasp what it really means to live a with-God life.
