Faithful Reporting

Wednesday, Day 11:  The with-God life

Advent Instrumental – by Don Coppo

“This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place. He sent an angel to present this revelation to his servant John, who faithfully reported everything he saw. This is his report of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Revelation 1: 1-8

Thought:  Faithful Reporting

The last several blog-posts have been about paying attention to how God is with us and today we’re going to shift our with-God story into the with-others story. We have spent the last few days in Chicago.  Our time began Sunday night in a prayer service and then a celebration with beloved ministry friends.  From there we were able to share our faith on several occasions with a bellman, hotel registration and store clerks.  We shared stories of the eternal hope we have found in Jesus Christ.  We shared the ways Jesus keeps helping us, blessing us… loving us.  We always think we are going on a trip for one purpose but God always has so much more in mind!   We will never forget the precious people God had cross our paths… God with-others.

The reading today tells us that John was a faithful reporter of the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus.  What a wonderful title… faithful reporter!  How does this description match your life?  Are there things that you have seen and discovered about God’s Word that have moved from your own personal blessing and entered into the faithful reporting realm?  Think about the risky business of reporting the truth in the culture that John lived in… Christians were hunted and executed.  We all have seen and experienced God’s Word, we all have something to report.  What risks are you taking to get the word out and share the testimony of Jesus Christ?

Practice:  Look for opportunities, even risky opportunities to share the story of your with-God life... with-others life.

Prayer:  The prayer today is from one of the earliest influences on our Christian life.  Keith Green encouraged us to live a life that watched for God and compelled us to share our with-God story.  If you have a few moments experience the song on youtube.

Make my life a prayer to you, by Keith and Melody Green

I make my life a prayer to you

I wanna do what you want me to

No empty words and no white lies

No token prayers no compromise

I wanna shine the light you gave

Thru your son you sent to save us

From ourselves and our despair

It comforts me to know you’re really there

Chorus

Well I wanna thank you know

For being patient with me

Oh it’s so hard to see

When my eyes are on me

I guess I’ll have to trust

And just believe what you say

Oh you’re coming again

Coming to take me away

I wanna die and let you give

Your life to me so I might live

And share the hope you gave me

The love that set me free

I wanna tell the world out there

You’re not some fable or fairy tale

That I’ve made up inside my head

You’re God the son and you’ve risen from the dead

Chorus

I wanna die and let you give

Your life to me so I might live

And share the hope you gave me

The love that set me free
